AmBank has extended a RM350 million (US$84.68 million) supply chain financing facility to Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, targeting the acceleration of Malaysia's second 5G network deployment. The funding, secured during a signing ceremony in Shenzhen, is earmarked to bolster liquidity for Huawei's local suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring seamless equipment and service delivery.

The financing aligns with Malaysia's broader digital transformation agenda, facilitating advanced 5G capabilities like network slicing for enterprise and smart city applications. Analysts project that U Mobile, the participating operator, will need 5,000–7,000 new or upgraded sites to achieve nationwide coverage by mid-2026.

This partnership underscores AmBank's strategic role in supporting critical infrastructure development while advancing Malaysia's foreign investment and technological sovereignty goals. The MOVE signals growing institutional confidence in next-generation connectivity solutions across emerging markets.
